Davison board signs off on fire district plan - Daily Republic

The Davison County Commission voted 4-0 to approve the boundaries of proposed fire district—which would include Beulah, Lisbon and Prosper townships and be named the "Mitchell Fire Protection District. State law requires an election to be held within 60 days of the boundaries being approved and the commissioners set July 28 as the election date, with voting taking place from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m. at the Davison County Fairgrounds. If the district is approved on July 28, the new district will form immediately and five members of the Board of Directors will be appointed that evening. Davies, who is experienced in the processes of forming a fire district, explained that fire districts are another government entity that would be able to levy their own taxes and would follow rules similar to a township with an annual meeting each... Each fire district contracts with a local fire department for service in their respective area to respond if there's a fire. Mitchell Assistant Fire Chief Paul Morris said Wednesday night that the agreement would be similar to the contract the organization has with Mitchell Township and would be as fair and equitable as possible. Bruce Haines, a Prosper Township resident, noted that the extra 10 cents or so that the Mitchell contract might require would probably be worth it, considering that Mitchell has a paid staff of career firefighters who will be on the. Put the remaining 8 basil leaves in a large cocktail shaker with the remaining 4 teaspoons of sugar and lime juice. Muddle the mixture (crush the basil leaves) with the back of a thick wooden spoon. Add rum and several ice cubes to shaker, cover and shake to blend. Rub a lime wedge along the rim of 2 lowball glasses and dip the wet glass rims into the basil sugar mixture.
