Eith, a McFarland resident, has nearly a dozen classic cars that are stored in a garage on his property. There are cars from the 1960s parked next to a Jeep from the late 1970s and a late 1980s Lebaron. He bought the car in 1978 because he liked the car’s lines. “I’ve got a real good friend who does a lot of work on these cars,” Eith said. The straight eight engine car was owned by a family in South Carolina who sold it to Eith in Florida. Eith purchased the Catalina in the late 1980s. There is the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am, which Eith bought from his daughter. She purchased the car from a cousin who bought it new. Eith said the only difference from this Trans Am and the one used in “Smokey and the Bandit” was the vehicle used in the film had a T-top. While some of the cars have been repainted, reupholstered and had work done under the hood, Eith tries to keep the cars as close to the original as possible. But for the most part there are original parts on the cars, like the headlights. Eith’s 1964 Ford Mustang was purchased from the original owner in Texas in 1992. “That was a big hit.
