Pronger elected to Hockey Hall of Fame - STLtoday.com

Defenseman Chris Pronger, who spent half of his 18-season NHL career with the Blues, winning the league's MVP award in 2000, was selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday . Pronger was chosen in his first season of eligibility, even though he... He hasn't played since 2010 because of concussion issues, but because of a seven-year contract he signed with the Flyers in 2009, he hasn't officially retired because of the salary-cap implications. A rule change last year allowed players who might still be under contract but haven't played in three years to be eligible for the Hall. Also chosen along with Pronger on Monday from the NHL were Phil Housley, who played 26 games with the Blues in 1993-94 before being traded to Calgary for Al MacInnis, and two Detroit Red Wings, Sergei Fedorov and Nicklas Lidstrom. Pronger led the league in plus-minus twice, and was a plus-52 in 1999-2000, the year he won the Hart Trophy as MVP, the Norris Trophy as the top defenseman, and the Blues won the Presidents' Trophy for having the best record in the league. He joined Brett Hull as the only Blues to win the MVP award and Al MacInnis as the only Blue to win the Norris. He was chosen to the All-Star Game four times while with the Blues (five times overall) and played for Canada in the Olympics four times, winning a gold medal twice, in 2002 and 2010. He's among the top 10 in Blues history in games. Source: www.stltoday.com
