Heisman Trophy follows Marcus Mariota to Nashville - The Tennessean

The iconic Heisman Trophy posed in Nashville Friday — the new home of its latest winner, Marcus Mariota , who now plays for the Tennessee Titans. “He’s across the street,” said Harrison Hendricks, referring to where the Titans practice at Saint Thomas Sports Park, “so to have it here, that’s nice. Downtown Nissan displayed the 80-year-old trophy, awarded to the top college football player each year, in the lobby for customers and employees, like Hendricks, to admire and even touch. An Auburn graduate and fan, White also supports the Titans and attends at least one game yearly. Mariota isn’t the only Titan to receive the trophy — former running back Eddie George accepted the award in 1995 when he played for Ohio State. Non-football fans also admired and took pictures of the bronzed trophy, a figurine of a muscular, running football player in the 1930s-style uniform — a leather helmet, thick long-sleeved jersey, traditional football pants and cleats. “I just want to take pictures because I’ve never seen it before,” said Julie Sandine, who recognized the trophy despite her indifference to the game. Nissan is a premier partner of the Heisman Trophy. Source: www.tennessean.com
