Highway Patrol: Suicidal woman causes two-vehicle crash - Daily Republic
Julie Eppel, 43, of Mitchell, "decided she wanted to end her life" and at about 11:30 a. m. attempted to drive her vehicle into an oncoming semi truck on Highway 38 at the Fulton corner, authorities say. Benjamin Wengler, 41, of Ethan, was driving a semi that was hauling gravel, and "because of his quick reaction, he swerved to the right and saved her life," according to South Dakota Highway Patrol Officer Matthew Petersen. Eppel's vehicle collided with the semi truck at the second axle at approximately 65 mph, Petersen said, and then it scraped along the truck. Source: www.mitchellrepublic.com
