There are tons of things to do this weekend in Sonoma County. The GoPro Grand Prix will be zipping around the track at Sonoma Raceway throughout the weekend, with the championship wrapping up on Sunday. Also this weekend, Bodega celebrates their 21st annual Seafood, Art & Wine Festival, Pink Martini performs at the Green Music Center and its a 90s party at Petaluma's Mystic Theatre. Movies in the Park: What do a lovable robot superhero, a picnic opportunity and free snacks and beverages from Whole Foods all have in common. The weekly event will feature the animated film, ‘Big Hero 6,’ at this family fun celebration. Bring your blankets or low-back chairs, as well as a picnic basket of your favorite foods, then kick back for an evening of watching movies under the stars. GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma: The Verizon IndyCar Series championship series wraps up this weekend at Sonoma Raceway with three days of car racing. The championship deciding event will feature practice and qualifying races on Friday, qualifying races and the World Challenge Series events on Saturday, and the final races and ultimate crowning for the 11th annual event on Sunday. Lang Lang concert highlights Weill Hall's 2015-16 season opening celebration - Santa Rosa Press Democrat

Weill Hall at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center has announced plans for the 2015-2016 Season Opening Weekend Oct. 3 and 4, including a gala reception and dinner, a concert with famed pianist Lang Lang and an educational concert presented in association with Lang Lang’s International Music Foundation. The educational concert, 101 Pianists, will be held at 2 p. m. Oct. 4 in Weill Hall and feature 100 young, local pianists in a joint performance on the stage of Weill Hall with Lang Lang at the helm. During the finale concert, the 100 young pianists will perform Schubert’s “Marche Militaire” No. 1 and Brahm’s “Hungarian Dance” in F sharp minor after preparing the pieces with their local teachers. 3 with a cocktail reception in the Prelude Restaurant, followed at 7 p. m. by a recital performance by Lang Lang in Weill Hall. The black-tie opening gala, led by Green Music Center Gala Committee Co-Chairs Joan Weill and Alice Chiang, concludes with a dinner in a tented pavilion decorated in an elegant Asian, contemporary style by designer Thierry Chantrel of La Follia in... 'Duck and Cover' Doesn't Work With Sonoma Co.-Area CHP - Patch.com

A driver who aroused a passing California Highway Patrol officer’s suspicion when he ducked down and tried to hide his face was arrested for several offenses in west Sonoma County Monday. Chris Hamner Jr. , 46, of Santa Rosa, was stopped in his GMC SUV at the intersection of Guerneville Road and state Highway 116 around 9:30 p. m. when the officer passed by. Hamner ducked and tried to hide his face, immediately pulled into a feed... When Hamner came out of the store he would not say where he got the 2015 tags, and the officer learned Hamner’s license was suspended for a prior DUI conviction, Sloat said. Hamner said he was on his way to pick up his son from school, and the CHP officer noticed signs of intoxication, Sloat said. Hamner also was on probation and had a no bail warrant for his arrest for a prior DUI and child endangerment conviction, Sloat said. Hamner was booked in the Sonoma County Jail on the arrest warrant, violation of probation, DUI, driving while suspended, having no proof of insurance, open containers in a vehicle and a registration violation, Sloat said.
