While some of the first electric car models were rather crude, both in appearance and in function, there was... Of course, everything changed once Henry Ford introduced the Model T, an event which would usher in the eventual downfall of the electric car. Here is a look back at electric cars, past, present and future. Introduced in 1974, the CitiCar electric car was developed by a company called Sebring-Vanguard. Designed to be a no-frills car, the Citicar lacked many of the traditional creature comforts that were found in cars at the time. This car is significant because it was the first mass-produced electric car to come from a major auto maker. It was a 2-seater, and though customers seemed to like the car, GM found the electric segment to be unprofitable and axed it in 1999. However, GM did produce a gen 2 in 1999, and it remained in production until 2003. The Nissan Altra is notable... Sheriff's office investigating late-night assault in Round Mountain - Redding Record Searchlight

- A Shasta County man was awoken early Thursday morning by two men who strong-armed their way into his home, allegedly beating him and killing one of his dogs before fleeing in one of his cars. Shortly after midnight Thursday, Richard Parker, 55, heard a knock on the door of his RV where it was parked on the 29000 block of Ranch Road in Round Mountain, he said. When Parker cracked the door open, he found himself face-to-face with the barrel of a rifle, he said. The assailants allegedly forced their way through the door and attacked Parker, beating him with the gun and screaming that they were going to kill him, he said. “They kept saying they wanted my money and I told them ‘I don’t have any money,’” Parker said. Parker’s three pit bulls, however, attacked the intruders, giving Parker the chance to run outside and flee the residence. Parker said were it not for his dogs, he believes he would have been killed.
