High Line Hot Rod: 2013 Infiniti M56 - Albany Times Union

MSRP: $63,100. as tested: $69,495. M is Infiniti 's premium, midsize sedan series. The five model lineup includes the V-6 powered M37 (MSRP $48,700 (RWD), $50,850 (AWD)), the V-8 equipped M56 ($61,200 (RWD), $63,700 (AWD) and the rear drive, gas/electric hybrid M35 ($54,750). My test car was an M56 AWD. With two option packages and delivery charges, it had an as-delivered price of $69,495. This is year three for the latest generation of the M series, and Infiniti's top sedan line adds three features for 2013. A power operated trunk lid closer,... 6 V-8 delivers, jumping from 0-60 mph in about five seconds, in AWD trim. A Drive Mode Selector allows drivers to choose from four options — Snow, Eco, Sport, Standard — each, with its own specific throttle and transmission mapping. Sport and Normal modes, not surprisingly, have the most responsive throttle settings, while Eco dulls the engine's senses, albeit in the name of better fuel economy. Speaking of which, EPA estimates for fuel economy for the M56 check in at 16 city/25 highway (RWD), 16/23 (AWD). In a long (1,000 mi. plus) test drive with a heavy dose of highway travel, I netted 24 mpg's overall. Source: www.timesunion.com
