When the officer turned around to stop the car, he allegedly spotted Garcia pulling into an alley, and the officer followed him until Garcia pulled onto the lawn of an apartment complex. After escaping the officer, he reportedly ran from the car after stopping on B Street Southeast. When police arrived at the home, Garcia allegedly held the female resident by the neck and arm, refusing to let her answer the door. Police entered the bedroom and reported seeing Garcia leaving through the window. Officers caught Garcia near the intersection of K Street Southeast and Fourth Avenue Southeast.
