Prisoner attacks fellow inmate - Republican & Herald

Pottsville police are investigating an assault at the Schuylkill County Prison that was reported to their department about 10:30 p. m. Monday. Police said officers learned that Ethan Sullivan, Saint Clair, and Bradley Merwine were involved in a physical altercation inside the cell they share. It was determined that Merwine was sitting in the cell when Sullivan became angry over a previous incident, jumped off his bunk and attacked Merwine using a pen that had a staple attached to it, police said. He was treated at the prison’s medical facility and did not require medical care from an outside location, police said. The investigation into the assault is ongoing and appropriate charges will be filed when the investigation is complete, police said. Sullivan is in Schuylkill County Prison awaiting transfer to a state correctional facility to begin serving a 30 to 60 year sentence for killing Jason M. Hahn, 22, of Andreas, in a wooded area of Blythe Township last year. State police at Frackville charged Sullivan with killing Hahn in the early morning hours of June 15, 2014, and then stealing $54, a cellphone and a pair of sneakers from the man.
