Police said a man accused of hitting and killing a woman in north Phoenix on Thursday morning was drunk at the time, according to court records. Investigators said Jeofrey Mutinda Kavu, 23, had been drinking with a friend at the West Coast Sports Bar in Peoria just before he veered off the road and hit a 33-year-old woman at the intersection of Norterra and North Valley parkways, according... Police said investigators found a receipt from the sports bar, Kavu's friend confirmed they were drinking together and Kavu smelled of alcohol when officers contacted him Thursday morning. But officers later found a silver Lexus GS300 that belonged to Kavy's parents at Kavu's apartment - about a mile from where the woman was hit, police said.
