Two die in fiery motorcycle crash Sunday on US 301 - So Md News

A motorcycle crash left two people dead late Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup truck and was engulfed in flames near U. S. 301 and Mattawoman Beantown Road in Waldorf, the Maryland State Police reported. Colquitt, known as House, performed Saturday at the Funk Parade along the U Street corridor in downtown D. C. Around 4 p. m. , the police report states, Colquitt was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Whorton on the back. For unknown reasons, Colquitt lost control of the motorcycle in the left turn lanes of U. S. 301 and crashed into the back of a 2009 Dodge Ram truck. The truck was pushed into the back of a 2006 Lexus GS 300. The motorcycle caught fire as Whorton was ejected from the bike and struck a 2007 Lexus GS 350, the police reported. Further investigation by troopers from the La Plata barrack and MSP accident investigators found speed was a factor in the accident, and that Whorton was not wearing a motorcycle helmet that meets safety specifications at the time. Due to the severity of the crash and the amount of debris, troopers closed all of southbound U. S. 301 at Cedarville Road and three of the northbound lanes at Mattawoman Beantown Road for approximately three hours, the report stated. Source: www.somdnews.com
