High-end cars at Concours - FH Times

Not a single model of a brand but, at last count two weeks before the show, some 38 Porsches, 24 Ferraris, 10 Lamborghinis, 9 Lotus, 10 Vipers, 10 Corvettes and 8 Maserati had registered with more to come. For the second year, event organizer Peter I. Volny expects to display more than 300 cream-of-the crop automobiles. A week before the event, 270 cars had registered compared to 50 at the same time last year. Volny was both shocked and delighted last year when the inaugural event attracted 220 vehicles and an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 spectators. “Concours is not a formal ‘white glove’ event in the traditional sense, but rather a gathering of automobile enthusiasts,” said Volny. Arizona chapters of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Jaguar, Ford GT, Viper, Corvette, Lotus, De Tomaso, DeLorean and other car clubs are supporting the local Concours. Volny is bringing his red 2006 Ford GT, a limited production model for two years. A 10-year town resident, Volny said he organized the car event because he’d like to see the town’s population increase. I approached the mayor two years ago and asked her for permission to use the park,” said Volny. Source: www.fhtimes.com
