Fiat Chrysler introduces Abarth at Rs29.85 lakh - Livemint

85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), launching yet another small car in a market that has not been kind to premium small cars. The Fiat 500, another premium small car launched in 2008, sold only around 70 units. It was discontinued in India in 2012. The BMW Mini Cooper, launched in 2012, got off to a good start with 100 bookings at the first day of its launch during 2012 Delhi Auto Show. The car was phased out in India in 2011. Clearly, people who can pay that kind of money in India want something bigger, and flashier, such as the Toyota’s Fortunner SUV or the Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan. The Abarth 595, named after Carlo Abarth whose car company Fiat acquired in 1971, is powered by a 1. 4 litre T-Jet engine producing 160 PS of power and generating 230 NM of torque @ 2750 to 3000 RPM. The car will be imported as fully built unit, Fiat Chrysler India president and managing director Kevin Flynn said. Source: www.livemint.com
