Masconomet summer squad wins third straight North Shore League outdoor title - Wicked Local North of Boston

As proud as the team is of this trifecta, Masco regular season head coach Bob Romeo (who cannot be involved in off-season team activities due to MIAA rules) said the summer is all about getting used to new teammates. “Summer league is not necessarily about the results, but more importantly an opportunity for players who are working to improve to be able to test their skills in game conditions,” said Romeo. “It also allows the younger players who lack varsity experience a transition period of playing with and against varsity players. ” “I have been on the past two previous summer league champion teams, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to coach this year as well,” she added. “I think this year was very similar because in previous years the championship never came very easy and every player on the team had to work hard and contribute in order for us to win. I was very proud of this year’s team and I think they will do great this winter. There are also challenges during the summer that don’t typically befall Bob Romeo’s team in the winter. A lot of the players have been doing summer league for several years, so they know what to expect but we still experience difficulties because many of the players go away on vacation during the summer or are doing other activities that conflict.
