Crime Scene: Perez-Olivo shot wife for insurance money - The Journal News | LoHud.com

Peggy Hall Perez-Olivo was murdered by a mysterious hit man just a few minutes from her Chappaqua home. That's the tale that her husband, Carlos Perez-Olivo, spun to police after he drove his dying wife to the hospital on Nov. Perez-Olivo, who had a gunshot wound to the abdomen, called 911 and took his wife to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, where the 55-year-old woman died two days later. Perez-Olivo's account of that night did not hold up in trial in 2008 or upon appeal this spring. Perez-Olivo claimed that a hit man, hired by a disgruntled client, cut off his Mitsubishi Montero and jumped into the back seat, where a struggle ensued before a gun went off and hit him and his sleeping wife, a teaching assistant. A firearms expert said the bullet that killed Peggy Hall Perez-Olivo came from that gun. The landlord's brother found the gun at the house while cleaning up, and the landlord's nephew returned it to Perez-Olivo, even trying to buy it from him. On the surface the couple — who lived on Old House Lane just a few houses down from Bill and Hillary Clinton — appeared to be living the American dream. Source: www.lohud.com
