In 2014 Mitsubishi sold only 77,643 units of what's left, the Outlander, Outlander Sport, Mirage and Lancer, but that represented a 24. 8 percent increase over the 62,227 sold in 2013. And in January of this year sales rose 19. 8 percent, marking... compact crossover sales increased 14. 5 percent, and midsize crossover sales rose by 12. 3 percent. Mitsubishi is optimistic because its best-selling nameplate is the Outlander Sport compact crossover that seats five, and its three-row companion Outlander that seats seven. All new versions of both are coming soon, including a plug-in gas/electric version, and the full-size Montero crossover last offered in 2006, is expected to rejoin the family soon, in both gas and plug-in versions. The totally redone 2016 Outlander comes out this summer, the Outlander Sport later this year, and the gas/electric plug-in hybrid Outlander in April 2016. The first look at the new Outlander will be at the New York Auto Show in April. Source: www.chicagotribune.com
