July New Vehicle Registrations Still in High Gear - Stuff.co.nz

New car sales in July are up almost 3 per cent on the same month last year to new record levels, but commercial vehicle sales tapped the brakes in the month, dropping almost 5 per cent. The Motor Industry Association says registrations of new vehicles are still at record high levels, and for the year to date the market was up a "pleasing" 5 per cent. New commercial vehicle sales in July were down 4. 6 per cent on the same month last year, to just more than 3000. Commercial vehicles include utes like the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux. New passenger car registrations of 7272 vehicles in July were up 201 units (or 2. 8 per cent) on July 2014 sales. 'The sales of new vehicles remains strong, but in line with other economic indicators further growth above current levels is uncertain," David Crawford, Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Industry Association said.
