Former Shallowater softball coach indicted on aggravated assault charges - LubbockOnline.com

A former Shallowater softball coach was indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury on aggravated assault charges. Jeffrey Richardson is accused of using his pickup truck to threaten a former student and faces a felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by threat. Richardson was indicted in June 2014 on a charge of improper relationship between a teacher and a student. He was released on bond July 2014 and was ordered to have no contact with the student. The same student told investigators she reportedly saw Richardson Aug. 5 in his Nissan Titan pickup following her Ford Mustang as she left the 702 West Loop 289 Wal-Mart, according to an arrest warrant. The student said she believed Richardson was driving fast and recklessly on Frankford Avenue then on Clovis Highway in an effort to contact her. She said she drove through a red traffic light and drove at speeds reaching 90 mph to get away. Lubbock Judge William Eichman reduced his bond to $50,000. A writ of habeas corpus filed Aug. During the hearing, Richardson’s attorney, Dan Hurley, said his client was driving with a family member to the store to buy hair products. Source: lubbockonline.com
