Older Mitsubishi Triton Will Soldier On In 'Extended Runout' - The Motor Report

Mitsubishi’s outgoing ‘MN’ Triton will continue in Australia alongside the new fifth-generation ‘MQ’ model over the coming months, on a long runout of existing stock. Launched internationally in 2005, the fourth-generation Triton has been a huge success for Mitsubishi, making up half of all Tritons sold in Australia. But, with significant stocks of the MN Triton still available in Australia and on the water, Mitsubishi will position the older model at the entry end of a temporary generational partnership. Speaking at this week’s 2015 Triton launch, Mitsubishi Australia marketing boss Tony Principe confirmed that the older MN Triton will be aimed at tradies shopping on a tighter budget, taking the wind out of cheaper Chinese or Indian options. In double-cab automatic form, the GLX Plus is currently priced at $29,990 drive-away, which is markedly more affordable than the cheapest double-cab 4x2 in the new range (the $35,990 GLX), let alone the 4x4 range ($36,990 GLX).
