More years ago than I care to remember, I learned to drive in a beaten-up old Ford Popular, replete with sweeping running boards, separate headlights and dodgy steering. During the 1980’s, I made numerous trips to the USA and drove a variety of barge-like American cars whose wayward steering and soggy suspension kept me on edge. It was, then, a case of double dose déjà vu when a brutish looking Isuzu D-Max Utah was delivered to my door for a week’s testing. An interesting first half hour found me desperately seeking a café for a strong black coffee before I drove any further or turned a shaking retreat back home. habitat – the builder’s yard and the farmer’s field, and not for gentile driving or the school run, though the kids will love it. Replacing the long serving Rodeo, the D-Max comes in four trim levels with the Utah the top dog, motoring equivalent,... It comes as a four-cab, five-passenger, four-wheel drive, riding high and with a massive flat bed tacked on the back and with the capability of towing up to three tonnes, enabling it to also appeal to caravaneers. For £29,938 it could have stayed with me. COMMENT RULES: Comments that are. Source: www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk
