New Charlevoix League gives local high school team summer competition - Petoskey News-Review

Bringing players of different age groups together and giving them an affordable opportunity to play during the summer was one of the main goals of the league when it was founded, league member Bob Jess said. The league currently has nine teams, including five high school squads, in its first year of existence, with several more area teams interested in joining next summer. Right now Charlevoix has three teams in the league and Harbor Springs and Ellsworth have one, along with a Boyne City team with several recent graduates and three adult teams. And the experience is a quality one for high school kids, as the league meets twice weekly with four 40-minute games split into 20-minute halves a night. On Tuesday, June 23rd, the opening game of the night featured a team full of several Charlevoix varsity and JV players taking on a team that included Boyne City grad and Lawrence Tech player Ryan Carson, Mancelona star and Ave Maria commit Brandon... The chance for local high school players to take on some of the best players the area has produced is one of the league's biggest draws, Jess said. Source: www.petoskeynews.com
