Lynn awaits OK to prepare for next start - STLtoday.com

Lynn said he was told a week ago that he would have seven days of inactivity to flush the inflammation from this right forearm, which had tightened and cramped during a start June 7 in Los Angeles. After an evaluation to determine if the rest and treatment calmed the strain, Lynn could be cleared to begin throwing again and prepping for a return to the rotation. Sunday’s postponed game almost assures that Lynn will miss only one more start before returning from the disabled list. He would be eligible to come off June 24, though now his turn in the rotation won’t come up until June 25 if the Cardinals hold to the current rotation. One of the reasons for flying Lynn back to St. Louis from this past road trip was to have a thorough examination of his forearm and arm to determine if the cramping was a result of a more sinister injury or the harbinger of one. Lynn said he did go through tests to rule out the forearm damage and compartment syndrome that led to surgery for Kyle Lohse several years ago. Lynn also said an MRI scan of his forearm and elbow shows no structural damage to either place. Lynn has pitched through hip and back discomfort this season, and the treatment and work he receives between starts is geared to avoid, for example, pain there transferring more strain to the forearm.
