Closter approves buying new ambulance for unit - NorthJersey.com

CLOSTER – The Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Corps will receive a new ambulance after the borough resolved to submit bids for a new vehicle. Several members of the Ambulance Corps were present at the July 22 meeting and expressed their gratitude to the Mayor and Council when the resolution passed. "We appreciate the town buying us an ambulance," said Anthony Lupardi, Jr. , president of the Ambulance Corps and a volunteer of 27 years. The new ambulance will replace one of the corps’ two ambulances, which is about 15 years old, according to Lupardi. "The [current] ambulance is getting old. According to the resolution, the borough will bid for a 2016 Ford 189", 4x4 F-450 ambulance. The ambulance will come equipped with four-wheel drive, which according to Lupardi, the current ambulances lack, and will include more safety features, such as three-point seatbelts and additional airbags in the back of the ambulance. Lupardi said the corps will need to replace its other ambulance in the future, and the funds for that ambulance will come from donations. Source: www.northjersey.com
