Woman run over three times by a Ford F350 in Fort Myers - The News-Press

A witness to a fatal pickup-pedestrian crash Tuesday said "it was horrible" after seeing the female victim get clipped in a marked crosswalk and sucked her up under the tires. The pickup ran over 79-year-old Wilma Thomas of North Fort Myers three times in the parking lot of the Market Square plaza in south Fort Myers. Thomas was leaving the World Market store on the south end of Market Square and was pushing a gray shopping cart through crosswalk when she was hit. The LCSO diagram of the crash, as well as witness accounts, say Thomas had almost made it across the crosswalk. The sheriff's office traffic report said the white, 2008 Ford F350 was being driven south through the parking lot by Alexandra Montiel, 75, of Fort Myers, when she turned west toward U. S. 41 and hit Thomas. Thomas was caught and trapped under the right back wheel, and the truck eventually rolled over Thomas three times — forward, backward and forward again — the sheriff's office traffic report said. Ford F350 model pickups can weigh from around 6,000 to 11,000 pounds, depending on features. According to witnesses, Montiel ran over Thomas, stopping on top of her. Another person then told Montiel to pull forward, causing her to run over Thomas again. Source: www.news-press.com
