1961-1964 Ford Short Bed Flareside
Pine Bed Wood
Grooved, cut-to-size and ready to sand and finish. Our pine is kiln-dried with a thickness of 3/4". This wood set includes a 1 inch groove at bottom of the wood at the tailgate end of wood for placement of the bed wood sill. Mounting holes need to be drilled by customer before installation. It is our recommendation that pine should either be painted (like the original wood beds) or finished with a natural finish, rather than stained. Pine is planed, grade "C" and its tolerances allow: firm knots max 3/8", some checking (splits), planing flaws on bottom of boards, bowed boards that flatten when installed, some natural discoloration and color variation are allowed. It is considered better for daily driver use. This set includes 8 boards 78" long. Same as Original.
Plain Steel Paintable Bed Strips
Steel bed strips are to be painted for that original bed look. Bed strips are punched with square holes according to the original pattern. Each strip is 1 1/2" wide X 76 7/8" long and 18 gage thickness. This set includes 7 Bed Strips.
Steel Bed Wood Sill
The bed wood sill caps off the exposed ends of the bed wood. American Classic Trucks makes Ford bed wood kits with a special 1 inch indention on the top of the bed wood so the bed wood sill lays flush with the wood and backs up to the strips, just like the original.
