Here are five places in Michigan to learn about and enjoy our rich automotive heritage. • The Gilmore Car Museum is tucked into the countryside near Hickory Corners, north of Kalamazoo. But its world-class car collection includes more than 300 vehicles from an 1899 Locomobile to a 1958 Edsel to a 1982 Checker cab. The Gilmore hosts its Red Barn Spectacular car show and swap meet on Aug. The 2014 event included more than 1,200 vehicles, hundreds of swap meet vendors as well as artists, crafters and antiques dealers. Cars on display this year will include antiques, classics, muscle cars of the 1960s, customs, street rods and vintage boats and campers.
