Reinventing wheels? Killington native takes Ford to a new level - Barre Montpelier Times Argus

Bruce Williams has known he wanted to design cars since he was a boy. Williams went on to be a designer for Ford Motor Co. , and has been part of the teams that worked on the Focus and Explorer. His greatest contribution, however, has been his work on the F-150 series, including the Raptor and Super Duty. While it was a practical course of study for him, Williams really wanted to be designing cars. He moved to Detroit and attended the College for Creative Studies, where he took up car design. (For two of those years, he also worked full-time at Ford in Dearborn, working on power train engineering. Since 1993, however, Williams has been working on vehicle design. The company knows the transportation market is not going to stay static like it is today, Williams explained during a recent interview. As we look at new ideas, we look at how the world is going to change and how people are going to get around. It was characterized as a mobility experiment, with an eye toward hybrid transportation, or getting people to think about different ways of getting from Point A to Point B in a fun, effective manner.
