Pedestrian killed in Dania Beach hit-run - Sun Sentinel

The two men were crossing the 2600 block of Griffin Road from the south side to the north side at about 7:25 p. m. when one of them was struck by a vehicle in the westbound lanes, said Dani Moschella, a Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue transported the man to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Moschella said. Moschella said the man was not in a crosswalk when he tried to cross the road in the 2600 block. Bill Hidden, 52, the roommate of the man who was fatally struck, told detectives he remembers seeing a red Ford pickup truck heading west as his friend tried to cross the street and was hit near Tropical Acres Steakhouse. Moschella urges drivers who are involved in accidents to stay at the crash site and call for help. "We have seen many hit and runs recently and many of them fatal," Moschella said.
