One person killed, multiple injured in Turlock crash - News10.net

Elisa Gonzalez was driving a 2000 Cadillac Escalade with three people in it. Gonzalez was heading south on State Route 99 when the right rear tire blew out. Gonzalez lost control of the Escalade and it stopped between the far left lane and the middle lane facing in an easterly direction according to CHP. A person who was in the front passenger seat of the Escalade got out of the SUV and was standing near the right front door. As that was happening, Refugio Rios Jr was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram van, with a passenger inside, and was heading south in the middle lane while approaching the Escalade. Rios saw the black Escalade ahead and tried to break and swerve the Dodge to the right, but was unable to avoid collision. Rios struck the Escalade, which subsequently struck the passenger who was standing outside of the Escalade, CHP said. Gonzalez sustained major injuries, one passenger in the Escalade sustained minor injuries and another passenger in the Escalade was uninjured according to CHP. Source: www.news10.net
