Acura to Discontinue Salesproof ZDX Crossover after 2013 - Car and Driver (blog)

From Acura’s description of the 2012 ZDX’s features, it looks like everything that was included on the top-of-the-line ZDX with Advance package last year is now standard, including heated and cooled front seats, a 435-watt sound system, and... Acura says that this year’s car adds lane-departure- and collision-warning systems, although the 2012 car with the Advance package already had a radar-based collision-avoidance system that would actually bring the car to a halt. Running gear carries over unchanged with a 300-hp, 3. 7-liter V-6 and six-speed automatic transmission, and at $51,815, the 2013 ZDX stickers for $5750 less than last year’s equivalent car. Despite the ZDX being something of an air ball for Acura, the company’s willingness to take a risk is commendable. We’re glad that Acura is refocusing efforts on its mainstream products—this is a necessity for the brand to survive and be profitable—and do hope some of the gusto that birthed the ZDX finds its way to other vehicles.
