2009 Acura TSX/European Honda Accord - Car and Driver

Acura gives us the first look at the exterior of the second-generation 2009 TSX that will make its world debut at the 2008 New York auto show in March and go on sale this spring. 0 inches wider with a 2. 6-inch wider track, and the wheelbase has been extended by 1. 3 inches for a total length that is 2. 4 inches longer. Prior to the New York unveil of the TSX, we will see its sister, the new Honda Accord for Europe, at the 2008 Geneva auto show in early March. Producing 201 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, Acura says it will get 21/30 mpg in city/highway driving with a five-speed automatic transmission, and 20/28 mpg with a six-speed manual. We had hoped the new TSX would get the turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine currently found in the Acura RDX but, alas, that is not the case. Europeans wanting a gasoline engine will have a choice of Honda's revised 2. 0-liter or the 2. 4. The European Accord will get Honda's all-new turbocharged 2. 2-liter i-DTEC diesel engine with 148 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. The TSX should, eventually, get the diesel as well for the U. S. The body structure of the TSX now features a closed-channel, cross-braced roof structure and inside frame rails for better aerodynamics which should translate into improved fuel...
