Motor Mondays: Entry-point Acura ILX polishes its act (Video) - Phoenix Business Journal (blog)

Honda Civic and the larger Accord sedans are perennial top 10 sellers in the U. S. , so it’s no wonder the manufacturer’s luxury brand Acura is so focused on its entry-level ILX. Introduced for the 2013 model year, the compact sedan gets a thorough update for 2016. That means fresh styling as well as an improved powertrain, new technology and an expanded range of trim and option packages. Acura describes ILX as a sports sedan. You could still opt for a similarly sized gussied-up Civic, which bases from $19,410 to the top-line EX-L at $23,760. The Acura, however, is tuned for better comfort and drivability along with its more upscale appeal. Like Civic, though, and most other Honda and Acura products, exterior styling still runs to the mainstream. There are now three grades, plus a new A-Spec Package that adds sporty touches on Premium and Tech Plus models. All models can be equipped with Acura Watch safety and driver-assistance technologies, such as road-departure mitigation, forward-collision warning, emergency braking and cross-traffic monitor. As Acura promised when ILX was introduced, the little sedan has earned top scores on crash tests. Source: www.bizjournals.com
