The District Attorney's Office notified a judge Tuesday that it will take another try at convicting on perjury counts a former Philadelphia police officer who last month was acquitted of the same charges in another case. The present case against Steven Lupo, 38, involves a car stop and the arrest of Joseph Tyamba and Angel Huffman on Sept. The future of that case became unclear June 30, when a jury took about 45 minutes to acquit Lupo of charges he lied under oath about a warrantless search of a drug suspect's car in 2011. But at a status hearing before Common Pleas Court Judge... Lupo, an officer for six years and the son of a city police officer, was charged in March 2014 with lying when he testified about car stops he made in 2011 and 2010. Wright ordered the cases separately tried. 25, 2010, car stop and arrest of Tyamba and Huffman while Tyamba was idling in a 2010 Lincoln SKS in the 100 block of East Chelten Avenue in Germantown.
