US 13 SB re-opened after fatal crash near Seaford - The News Journal
One person was killed Wednesday in a crash along Sussex Highway (U. S. 13) south of Cannon Road near Seaford that closed the roadway for three hours, state police said. Gaines, 56, of Felton, was driving a 2010 Freightliner Cascadia tractor trailer southbound and in preparation to turn into a nearby business’ parking lot, slowed the trailer, Fournier said. Boyce, who was driving a 2007 Buick Lucerne behind Gaines, did not see the truck slowing and drove into the back of the trailer, Fournier said. The Buick continued traveling under the truck until it hit the ICC bar — or metal bar at the end of the trailer — and then the fifth axle before the car stopped, Fournier said. Boyce, 28, of Greenwood, was pronounced dead at the scene, Fournier said. Police closed the road for about three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. Fournier said the investigation is ongoing, but there will be no charges. Source: www.delawareonline.com
