Driver of stolen van arrested after police chase in Macon - 13WMAZ

A man is in custody after a police chase with a stolen van ended in a car accident at the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Cherokee Avenue Sunday around noon. According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, 21-year-old Jeffery Hunter, Jr. , of Albany, was arrested and charged with aggressive driving, theft by receiving stolen auto, fleeting and eluding a law enforcement officer,... The release states a van, reported stolen back in July from the Highland Apartments, was seen by a caller on Vineville Avenue near Forest Avenue. When deputies arrived to the store, they spoke to the men, who saw the van passing by. The release states deputies attempted to catch up to it but lost it again. The deputy attempted to stop it but Hunter refused to stop. Hunter led police on a chase and ran a stop sign and drove into the southbound lanes on Pio Nono Avenue, causing an accident after hitting a 2012 Buick Enclave and a 2013 GMC Sierra Pickup.
