Bicyclist Killed in Alexander County Crash - WSIL TV
It happened Sunday evening along Route 3, three miles south of Route 127. Police say Jarod Kyle Shumaker, 37, of Olive Branch, was riding along the right side of the road when he was hit by the passenger mirror of a northbound Buick Century. State police say the driver of the Buick Century, Katherine Pillow, 81, of Tamms, was cited for improper overtaking of a bicycle. ALEXANDER CO. -- Illinois State Police say a bicyclist was killed Sunday in Alexander County. It happened just before 5:15 p. m. Sunday on northbound Route 3, approximately three miles south of Route 127. Illinois State Police say the cyclist was on the right side of the road when he was struck by the passenger mirror of a passing 1998... Investigators says the bicycle lost control, veered into the center of the lane, and was struck by a Toyota Corolla that was traveling behind the Buick Century.
