Hybrids were up from previous months, while the other categories were more or less in line with previous months. Sales for full electric vehicles were up slightly from July of this year and down significantly from August 2014. The LEAF had very strong sales in August 2014 (almost 3,200), while sales were only 1,393 this August. Since April, production of the LEAF has been at modest levels in anticipation of the updated Model Year 2016 product. Model S sales were also modest, due in part to downtime as Tesla begins to prepare for Model X production. We estimate that Model S sales in August were ahead of the results from last August. Plug in hybrids had a moderate month, with most vehicles selling at a similar level to July 2015. Inventory of the Prius Plug In is running low and will not be increased for over a year as the current model is now out of production. Source: www.hybridcars.com
