Easton pub-crasher tried to run down someone on sidewalk, police say - lehighvalleylive.com

Niman Gjevukaj, 39, of the 700 block of Sassafras Street, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and various other offenses after crashing a 1994 Chevrolet Sportvan about 1:44 a. m. onto the sidewalk at Seventh and Northampton streets. Gjevukaj "attempted to cause bodily injury to the pedestrians, Nicole Diana and Loni Locascio, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life," police wrote in the criminal complaint. Gjevukaj drank "two or three" Coors Lights starting about 10:30 p. m. Monday at Drinkys bar on Centre Square, according to a woman who said she was his fiancee. She said Locascio had been rude to her earlier at Porters' Pub. While court papers identified him as a bar patron, Altenbach insisted and a bar employee confirmed that Locascio was a bartender. The other victim, Diana, was a patron, the employee and court papers said. Altenbach said she had been with Gjevukaj at Drinky's but walked home instead of getting a ride. On Gjevukaj's way home from Drinkys, Altenbach said, he made a U-turn in front of Porters' and saw "someone who p----- him off who distracted him" and crashed. Locascio had to jump into the street to avoid being hit by the van, court papers say. that's why he was charged with aggravated assault," Beitler said. Source: www.lehighvalleylive.com
