Born in a Chevy Beretta 20 years ago, she makes a key connection - SILive.com

STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. -- Rena Vega was born on a cold, January morning in 1995 in the front passenger seat of a raspberry colored '95 Chevy Beretta. "Rena is very likely the only good thing to ever come from a Chevy Beretta," said Paul McPolin, former Staten Island Advance reporter who interviewed Marie Vega after the birth. Marie Vega had been to the hospital three times on January 13 and was sent home each time – hospital staff said she wasn't far enough along to be admitted. They almost made it. "My dad [said he] freaked out and ran to get a security guard," Rena said, as she repeated the story that had been told to her numerous times before. After three pushes, Rena Vega entered the world in the front seat of her parents' brand new Chevy Beretta. Her father said he hated the car from the minute they bought it, not long before Rena "christened it. ". They got rid of the car shortly after. Out of boredom, Rena decided to track down Paul McPolin via Twitter, to see if he remembered writing the story. "I'd want to ask him if he remembered writing the story, and what my parents were really like back then," Vega said. Source: www.silive.com
