BROOKFIELD — More adaptive water-sports equipment can be purchased for people with disabilities thanks to a benefit classic car show on Sunday. More than 120 cars participated in the fourth annual Candlewood East Marina Car Show, which benefits Leap of Faith Adaptive Skiers , an organization that has provided recreational opportunities for 23 years to people with disabilities, especially... The car show usually raises between $2,000 and $3,500 annually for Leap of Faith and is considered to be one of its biggest fundraisers, generating awareness and donations. “It appears to be a little better than last year, even with the threat of rain,” Joel Zeisler , Leap of Faith’s executive director, said as he looked around the lot. Leap of Faith Adaptive Sports started in the 1992 after Zeisler taught a Vietnam War veteran, who was blinded in 1969, to waterski jump. Since then, Leap of Faith has grown and become more organized. More than 2,000 participants attended Leap of Faith’s 45 events so far this summer. The organization works with a lot of groups that have between 30 and 40 people. Source: www.newstimes.com
