£100m of classic cars on show at Holyrood Palace - Edinburgh Evening News

Nearly everyone remembers that one iconic car from their favourite film, whether it be James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 or The Green Hornet’s 1996 Chrysler Imperial. And this weekend, thousands of car lovers are set to gather at Holyrood Palace, where more than £100 million worth of classic motors will be on display at the Concours of Elegance event. The spectacular collection of rare cars from the 1920s onwards are being displayed in the grounds of the palace and despite the event being relatively new – the first was held in the grounds of Windsor Castle in 2012 to celebrate the Queen’s... A collection of Ecurie Ecosse cars has also come home – the Edinburgh-based racing team was founded in 1951 by David Murray, an accountant and racing driver from the Capital, and the team has since competed all over the world. Franchitti, left, will be showcasing several of the cars he has won throughout his career, including his Indianapolis 500 victories – a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette 427.
