LIMA — The decade began with 25 million registered autos on the road in 1950. Most of the cars were predated World War II models in poor condition. no autos or parts were produced during the war due to rationing and restrictions. More than eight million cars were produced in 1950. The Chrysler Imperial was introduced in 1926, and was Chrysler’s top of the line vehicle for much of its history. The company positioned the cars as a prestige car rivaling the Cadillac. The 1950 Imperial was a New Yorker with a custom interior.
