Judge orders Springfield man to apologize for racial slurs against Hispanic ... - MassLive.com

"Very sorry," defense lawyer Justin Lavelle explained before his client pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and disorderly conduct during a hearing on April 9 in Springfield District Court. So sorry, in fact, the defendant wanted to write a letter apologizing to the patrolmen who arrested him earlier that morning during a traffic stop on Oak Street, the lawyer said. Gordievsky, a self-employed carpenter and native of Nahodka, Russia, had plenty to apologize for, according to a report written by one of the patrolmen. The trouble began just before 1:30 a. m. when the officers pulled over a 1992 Chrysler New Yorker that had been wobbling along Oak Street with two flat tires, the report states. As soon as officers Deliangelie Medina and Nathanael Perez approached the car, Gordievsky unleashed a torrent of verbal abuse, calling the Hispanic officers "dirty black American police officers" and "black bitches," among other unpleasantries. "The passenger appeared to be very intoxicated and smelled of alcohol," Perez wrote in the report. "As this occurred, Mr. Arbuzov began to call me a 'black bitch,'" Perez wrote. Gordievsky was arrested, booked at police headquarters and arraigned later that morning in district court. Source: www.masslive.com
