Child airlifted from crash site - Daily Journal Online

A three-year-old child was transported by helicopter and two others taken by ambulance after a two-vehicle accident that took place at 10:50 a. m. Saturday on Silver Springs Road, three-tenths-of-a-mile west of Berry Road in St. Francois County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred when a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Robert J. Ruffino, 84, of Bonne Terre, failed to maintain his lane of traffic and crossed the center line. Driving a 2006 Ford Escape, Cheree L. Lipe, 25, of Desoto, swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the Chrysler Town and County. The front left corner of the Town and Country struck the center of the Ford Escape. Three-year-old Jenni M. Lipe of Desoto, a passenger in the 2006 Ford Escape, was transported by helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Robert Ruffino and his passenger, 76-year-old Anna M. Ruffino, of Bonne Terre, were taken to Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre by ambulance where both were treated for minor injuries.
