The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Robert Ruffino, 84, of Bonne Terre was driving a 1998 Chrysler Town and Country van west on Silver Springs Road about three-tenths of a mile west of Berry Road at 10:50 a. m. when he failed to... Cherree Lipe, 25, of De Soto, who was driving a 2006 Ford Escape in the oncoming lane, swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting the van, but the front left corner of the van struck the center of the Escape. Lipe was not injured, according to the report, but a passenger in her car, Jenni Lipe, 3, sustained serious injuries and was taken by Air Evac helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, according to the report. Ruffino and a passenger in his van, Anna Ruffino, 76, also of Bonne Terre, both sustained minor injuries and both were taken by Valle Ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre.
