The 19th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit on Monday features California Gov. Watch report: Wildfire protection is key issue at Lake Tahoe summit. The plan includes restoring fire-resistant landscapes like the Seneca Pond project, continuing selective thinning of the forests, and implementing new methods of fire detection. The summit has been held every year since 1997, when President Bill Clinton ordered federal agencies to formally coordinate to protect the lake.
