4 seriously hurt after minivan hits trees - WOODTV.com

(WOOD) — Three people sustained serious injuries and a fourth had to be airlifted to the hospital in critical condition following a crash Monday afternoon, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The wreck happened around 4:40 p. m. on Riley Street west of Kenowa Avenue in Jamestown Township, southeast of Grandville and just west of the Kent County line. Authorities say a 1998 Dodge Caravan that was westbound on Riley left the road and then hit several trees. Three of the people in the minivan were taken to Grand Rapids hospitals via ambulance. Driver Zachary Jansheski, 18, was taken to Mercy Health Saint Mary’s in serious condition. Passengers Emily VanBalkenberg, 17, and 22-year-old Marta Kuiper were taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in serious condition. Authorities say a third passenger, 18-year-old Zachary Fannon, was in the back seat and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was airlifted to Butterworth in critical condition.
