Board defines valedictorian qualifications, changes tech support - Imperial Republican

A full Chase County School board agenda last week led to a number of changes at CCS. The board approved a policy that chooses just one valedictorian and one salutatorian for graduation each year. 11, students will be chosen according to their grade point average (GPA) throughout the four years of high school. Weighted classes, or those advanced or at a college level, will be scaled on a 5. 0 scale, rather than a 4. 0 scale, giving more emphasis to the GPA. Dual credit courses and such classes as trigonometry, senior math, chemistry and physics will be weighted classes, as will those chosen by an administrative team. If there is still a tie between students, the highest score from the 11th grade Nebraska State Accountability (NeSA) test will be factored in. In the event of a tie at that point, the ACT scores will be factored in. If there is still a tie, Lefdal... The board also approved a change in technology support at CCS. By changing contracts, CCS will save $27,000, Lefdal noted, from the $96,502 spent on technology support last year. A contract was approved with 20/20 Technologies of McCook, which services several area schools. Lefdal said this is a help line with help available in five minutes. Source: www.imperialrepublican.com
