Porsche dominates World Endurance Championship race at Nurburgring - Autoweek

Manufacturer earns bragging rights in the region with 1-2 finish. It was a perfect finish to a perfect debut for the World Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring. At least Porsche thought so, as the manufacturer capped a big week for the WEC with a 1-2 finish at the 6 Hours of Nurburgring sports-car race in Germany on Sunday. The Porsche Manthey trio of Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber and Brandon Hartley cruised to what turned out to be a rather workmanlike victory. The team’s Porsche 919 Hybrid finished a full lap ahead of its sister car driven by Neel Jani, Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb. “Achieving the second one-two after Le Mans is great for our team," said Webber, who drove the final stint. "This is my first Porsche victory and, of course, it is a big day for Brendon, Timo and myself, and it is always a team effort. The race marked the 4-year-old series’ first trip to the Nurburgring and attracted a three-day weekend crowd of 62,000. The race also gave Porsche bragging rights in the region, as LMP1 competitors Porsche and Audi call Germany home, and Toyota... It was the second 1-2 finish for Porsche, which also turned the trick at Le Mans in June. Source: autoweek.com
